100 Day Celebration
I was just wondering if their were any other mommies/daddies that have had a party Pandora Clearance Sale for LO's 100 Days.
I'm not completely sure on the significance of the 100 Day tradition in the first place (I asked SO but he would only say it's important.). MIL will be flying in for 3 days in order to take the reigns (which I don't mind since I wouldn't have any idea of what to do in the first place) but I'd like a little insight.
In Korean tradition the 100 days (or Baek Il)is celebrated because back in the days in Koreamany babies would not make it past 100 days after birth. Therefore, it was a celebration when a 100 days had passed. Usually there is ricecake and fruit set out before the baby. In my family the 100 days celebration is usually smaller (only family), and then the "Dol" or First Year birthday is a much bigger gathering. The Dol is where the various items (like rice, money, pencil andother items) are placed before the baby to determine there future. For instance if they pick the rice, they will never go hungy, if they pick money they will be rich, if they pick the pencil they will be academically successful. Of course most parents want them to pick the cash!
Another common tradition is to give 24k gold ringsor bracelets to the baby (sized for baby), where the mother would collect these and later on when the baby grows up will make jewelry for the daughter or future wife of the son.
Another birthday celebration is Baek il (100th day celebration). During this celebration, the family worships Samshin. They make her offerings of rice and soup for having cared for the infant and the mother, and for having helped them live through a difficult period. They give thanks to Samshin and also pray for jae ak (wealth), longevity, and cho bok (traditional word for "luck").[5] After the prayer Authentic Pandora Winter Wisp Charm (IS2705) Clearance Outlet the family, relatives and friends celebrate with rice cakes, wine, and other delicacies such as red and black bean cakes sweetened with sugar or honey. In order to protect the child, red bean rice cakes are placed at the four compass points of the house. This not only brought protection, Pandora Bracelets Clearance but was also believed to bring good fortune and happiness.[6] It is widely believed by the Korean people that if 100 people share the rice cakes the child will live a long life, so the family would also send rice cakes to neighbors and others. Those who receive rice cakes return the dishes with lengths of thread (expressing the hope for longevity), rice and money (symbolizing future wealth).[7 |
